flashback. 2004. “has a team ever lost a 3-0 lead in the playoffs? not even close.”

Not saying it will happen again, but the Red Sox did start their comeback in game 4 at the bottom of the 12th inning with a walk off win. So Rays fans have at least that much to give them hope.

The difference is the Rays dont have Pedro starting game 5
5. u/Ardouren · 2026-10-28 11:11 UTC
Neither do the Brewers

Miz was the closest thing to him this season. Who are the rays even starting?
7. u/Ardouren · 2026-10-28 11:30 UTC
That would be Brayan Bello

Probably Ras on short rest
9. u/Howhighwefly · 2026-10-28 11:26 UTC
Probably Matz

Pedro wasn’t really that dominant that season. He had a near 4 era and the Yankees were his ‘daddy’ as he famously said after a tough loss to them. Though he definitely pitched well enough to keep them in the game so they could win it late. Though I do agree with your sentiment. This Rays team isn’t close to as good as the 2004 Red Sox. That team was loaded with future hall of famers.

My sentiment is more they dont have a legit starter for tonight's game.

That’s most definitely true. Pedro was absolutely a legitimate starter even in 2004. He wasn’t 99 or 00 Pedro, but he was still a quality starter. He was still capable of showing up too. Every so often that 04 season flashes of peak Pedro would appear. We all had our fingers crossed that some version of that would appear in that ALCS.

It’s a good thing Wisconsin don’t have a history of soul wrenching collapses at their respective pinnacles, right? This one could be one for the record books

One of my few joys about being a Chicago sports fan living in Wisconsin.
Still rooting for you guys this time though, you deserve it this season

Is it as obvious from the outside looking into our fandoms how soul crushing it is?
I used to tell people I’d rather the Packers suck for a decade then feel like there’s hope every year.
At least when they suck it doesn’t ruin my week. The 2014 NFC championship bugged me for years

Yes. I could feel the disappointment in 2014, the whole state just had a funk they couldn't shake.
And since the Bears were ass that year I at least got some enjoyment out of the season

I'm so tired of reading wimpy shit like this after one loss
18. u/silvermoonhowler · 2026-10-28 14:11 UTC
Me too
I mean come on, did any of us realistically think we would have had 2 series sweeps in a row
We're up 3-1, and with another chance to close it out tonight
19. u/Mike2k33 · 2026-10-28 13:10 UTC
So tired of it

Yeah guys, football the is the same as baseball. You lose one game in a tough way and it's all over.
You guys got this shit figured out!
