Lucky for him, his time to recover will be longer thanks to the lockout

2027 Comeback player of the year!

4. u/ColdGloop · 2026-10-21 23:18 UTC

Nah. Baseball will be comeback player of the year because of the lockout

5. u/TheSocraticGadfly · 2026-10-22 00:29 UTC

Surrrrreeeeeee he won't.

That said, the real rest he needs is, at a minimum:

No DHing on pitching days. He pitches only.

Dodgers go to full 6-man rotation.

That's the only way to even have a halfway realistic shot of making the 2-way work for another, say, two years.

No DHing the day after he pitches is rest. Not DHing when he pitches is not rest.

7. u/TheSocraticGadfly · 2026-10-22 00:57 UTC

He doesn't need to do both activities at once is the whole point. And, I said "at a minimum."

I’m surprised they don’t already do that and just send De Paula to DH those days

Getting downvoted for facts - Ohtani joining the front runners for a non-competitive path to championships is a huge part of why MLB has been a joke lol

28 fanbases knew they’d never even have a chance to get him. What a shit league

Getting downvoted, just like you because it’s a horrible take. Non-competitive path to the championship? Did you not watch the 2024 NLDS? Or the 2025 World Series? He was always going to sign with the Dodgers, if the NL had the DH in 2018 he would’ve never signed with the Angels.

The Dodgers almost choking isn’t the same as a reasonable expectation of parity; which MLB did NOT have for two seasons.

The team everyone knew would win it all, won it all, twice. because they got the first pick for almost every star player that was available. They won 100+ games then were the only team that a possibly GOAT in Ohtani even considered.

29 fanbases knew they wouldn’t get to sign him. 29 fanbases will never experience a dynasty with the way MLB is absolutely broken right now.

These fanbase deserved better than two pointless years where the team that was allowed to be the only team signing star players from small markets won because they spent the most…good sports leagues don’t even let this be a possibility. But MLB was desperate and screwed over small market fans.

But how convenient for post-COVID baseball ratings that the MLB’s golden child Dodgers got to get every star player and give MLB the ratings they were desperate for. What a coincidence!!!!

Found three other publications that didn’t pick the Dodgers to at the start of the ‘24 season. Yet everybody knew they were going to win? You’ve got real issues brother. Cry more.

We all thought he was signing with the Blue Jays for a few hours.

17. u/QuinnTinIntheBin · 2026-10-21 23:14 UTC

No you don’t get it. He had to take $700 million, and go to a powerhouse huge market team with an already stacked roster, which also happens to be a huge rival of the team that he was previously playing for

18. u/DodgerDogg1981 · 2026-10-21 23:39 UTC

Haha. Did Ohtani play with the SF Giants before the Dodgers? Since when are Dodgers and Angels “huge rivals” ?

19. u/QuinnTinIntheBin · 2026-10-22 01:42 UTC

Local rivals, not huge rivals, is what I should have said. My other points were still valid. Also a degenerate gambler but eh who cares.

You sound like a whiny baby. Literally feelings hurt over sports. Hahaha I love it.
