The Rays are just the third franchise in baseball history to lose in their first 3 trips to the World Series

Rays won the AL Pennant in 2008, 2020, and 2026, but have failed to take home a World Series championship. The only other franchises to lose in its first 3 WS appearances are the Detroit Tigers who won in 1935 after 4 losses (1907-09, ‘35) and the Los Angeles Dodgers finally winning in 1955 after 7 straight losses (1916, ‘20, ‘41, ‘47, ‘49, ‘52-‘53).

How many of those were won before integration happened? Lol

The Yankees won 17 titles after Jackie Robinson broke the color line. However we “only” have 11 titles since 1955 and 5 since 1995. I think we’re doing just fine lol. If we don’t get one by the mid 2030s, then I’ll be freaking out.

The Dodgers were one of the original teams though. They had same pre-integration chances that the Yankees had.

You going to count the ones when there was less than 4 teams in the MLB ...lol

So more teams being added makes previous wins invalid? Good to know. So the dodgers wins won't count if the league expands this offseason, right?

Well, that does seem to be the philosophy with NFL Championships vs. Super Bowls (unless the Packers are involved, then NFL Championships matter because Lombardi I guess). On the other hand, Stanley Cups seem to count for the Original 6 in the NHL as much as winning it today, so who knows at this point. I'd say all the Yankees WS titles are valid, but I also think NFL Championships should count as much as Super Bowls.

All the Yankees titles came when there were at least a dozen teams playing, and ten of those titles from long ago came after Integration. Baseball is the only sport to have a good assortment of talent before every sport expanded in scope with the 1960s and various mergers occurred (NFL-AFL, NHL-WHA, and NBA-ABA)

This is a more telling stat than the Rays.

It’s only 23

I never realized they made it to the World Series that many times….

Bum ass franchise, smh.
Meanwhile, my Mariners have never lost a single World Series that they’ve been in.
No, I will not be taking any questions.

Brooklyn Dodgers.
Fun fact: after their move to LA in 1958, the Dodgers actually won their first 3 WS appearances in their new home: 1959, 1963, and 1965.
