Gold Glove Winners Announced

Ignorant – Unfortunately, yes.

They are mostly over-the-top Rafaela fans who view Abreu as his rival. It’s absolutely crazy, Abreu has experience at all 3 outfield positions and plays CF very well but Rafaela can’t play the corners and RF at Fenway is very difficult.

They like the fact Rafaela is so goofy and theatrical, always going for the diving catches because he doesn’t get a good jump on the ball.

Meanwhile Abreu is the quiet, steady guy that’s always positioned perfectly with good reads on the ball and makes RF look easy. Not to mention he’s got a rocket for an arm as Frank Costanza would say.

Even now, some of those “fans” are hyping Rafaela for Platinum Glove while totally ignoring Abreu even though Abreu’s DRS is literally 33% higher than Rafaela’s.

Not only is Abreu the better hitter, I guarantee he’ll have a much more solid lengthy career than Rafaela because Abreu has an excellent mental makeup and is highly intelligent. I give him a lot of credit for not only learning English pretty quick, but insisting on speaking it in interviews.

And oh yeah, Rafaela fans want Abreu traded. It’s just ridiculous.
