MLB has tried re-working the All Star Game for over 30 years. Everything from giving home field advantage to the winner, HR Derby swing-offs, substitution rules, and a myriad of others. Here are the rules for 1995 ASG.

At least it’s better than the NBA all star game!

Or the NFL pro bowl which they've entirely given up on

But then we would see the buzzing huttplug sign stealing

There's nothing wrong with those rules.

It's just a lame popularity contest.
And the HRD has so much damn filler, it's impossible to watch.

Netflix sure does spend a bunch of money just to make us hate them

I liked when it gave home field advantage in the World Series because it meant something. Only people who didnt were NL fans cause they lost 13 years straight.

Toying with the rules is pointless until the decide what it’s supposed to be.

I just want fun hats and jerseys again (even if just for the Derby) I’ve hated the last couple so much they’ve been a total snooze. We have one fun thing, the marlins all star game hat I have is one of my most prized possessions. Such a crazy design but I loved it

In the 1960s the All Star Game was significant since the two leagues were somewhat separate and it was one of the few nationally televised games.
Now, the AL and NL are two conferences within MLB and there are lots of televised games.

I miss the days when starters had to go multiple innings. Sigh...

When everything is done from a "we want more money from advertisers" but they know no one is watching it, they'll keep grasping at straws to make it a compelling game
They need to just stop, let it be an event for the fans of what ever city is hosting, and stop trying to compel us to watch an exhibition game where the players don't give a fuck
