I mean, I enjoy being off work more than working as well.

Going to work sucks.

Mark Hoppus tried to warn us.

It couldn’t matter in the slightest but that was Tom DeLonge singing

I don’t know why this reply has me dying lmao

Were there any roses by the stairs though?

8. u/FrostySack2 · 2026-11-05 18:27 UTC

Saw them live years ago and they sung it as “she gives me rimjobs by the stairs, surprises let me know she cares” and that’s the only way I can hear it to this day.

Mark warned us about growing up. Tom warned us about work.

I would really enjoy my time off if i was also filthy rich

The difference is this dude is making 10s of millions of dollars every year to do his job, but yeah of course the majority of people would rather be home than working.

15. u/Turdburp · 2026-11-05 15:57 UTC

And the offseason is when he can spend those millions. I imagine most vets who have been paid like the offseason more, especially if they have kids. They get paid well, but it is a grueling season.

I feel like that would make your time away from work even better

He's also a perennial all star and MVP candidate. He's doing his job and wants to spend time with his family.

And still gets shit for it.

Do people not want to admit there is a difference between “playing baseball” and “being on the road away from home for significant amounts of time for 6 months out of the year”, or that one can prefer the offseason without disliking the regular season?

There’s a group of folks that started playing pickup, sandlot-style baseball at a park near me on Sundays this summer. I joined in - first time I’ve played in close to 20 years - and had an absolute blast. It’s incredibly low-stakes: pitchers smoking heaters while on the mound, folks cheering for people on either team getting hits, losing track of score/innings, etc.

It quickly became the scheduled time I most looked forward to each week. The moment we would part ways, I would already be looking forward to the following Sunday.

But if that became my job? If I needed to do that six days a week, had networks of TV personalities discussing my metrics, had leagues full of younger guys beating down the door to take my place, all while being away from home half the year?

Shit, I’d be ready for the season to end too.

Not to mention death threats from degenerate gamblers
