Elite deal. We can reasonably count on this guy to be a 1.5-2 bWAR starting CF and he doesn’t seem like he’s hit his ceiling yet. His improvements offensively last year were supported by big jumps in key metrics, namely his ability to pull the ball, his ability to put the ball in the air, and several additional points on his EV. It’s within the realm of possibility that he continues to develop into an All Star-level player.

He also embodies the spirit of the Nationals– underappreciated players who play hard and put up results even when the rest of the league ignores them. It’s criminal that this dude hasn’t won a Gold Glove yet, but something tells me that’s going to change soon.

I continue to be very impressed with Paul Toboni and my optimism on this team is higher than it’s been since 2020.
