the umpires’ union didn’t wanna get involved in a pension dispute? now that there is a dogshit union

“It's not a big union and they're not pension experts.”
Literally the next sentence. I wouldn’t want anyone fighting for my pension if they have no experience with pensions. That’s what lawyers are for.

Umpires aren’t pension experts, either. But the union could have hired a lawyer just as easily as the five individual plaintiffs did.

That’s not how it works.

that's exactly how it's supposed to work. when one or more of your members has a grievance, the union steps in and represents you. "i don't know about pensions" is a shit excuse and i'd be looking into suing that union next. what the fuck did i pay dues for?

It's probably a really weak union though? I mean umpires have been blind forever and there's probably about 80 MLB umpires.
I guess I don't know what union they have, but I would bet it's very weak

Wow! I bet they didn’t think of that!
Just kidding. They didn’t think of that because that’s not how it works.
