Why did they let him bat three times in a row??

Shohei was batting behind him

The straw that stirs the drink, total legend!

I really enjoy the old ABC crew of Keith Jackson, Howard Cosell, and Tom Seaver. I find it cool and unique by today's standards how you have a play by play announcer, a sports journalist/broadcaster, then a color analyst in the booth. That has mostly been phased out since the early 2000s.
Also Keith Jackson when I see these old broadcast was a good play by play baseball announcers. College Football is truly his number 1 sport, but he did a good job calling baseball as well.

Yeah, I haven’t really listened to much Cosell as an adult. It’s interesting, him bringing up Jackson’s response to pressure.

Except when Cosell kept talking over his calls

I don't mind. It felt like a natural reaction over some of the robotic calls we seem to have now.

That third homer is absolutely ridiculous. Did that ball go over the black seats?

No it hit like 55-60% of the way up, I think a bit over a tunnel - then bounced up.

Ah. Still, though, what a bomb.

475’ is nuts.

“Mattress” pitch. (He laid into it)

That's a new one for me!

Mr. October described it as such himself.

I always wonder why a team pitches to a player that hot 🔥 in a World Series game. I don't think there was anybody on base. Just walk them or throw them all balls.

That’s what the Angels learned against Barry Bonds. It worked too!
18. u/Confident_Range3376 · 2026-10-23 00:34 UTC
The only time Bonds hit with people on base (Game 3), the game was pretty much out of reach for the Giants.

Nah, the second homer was hit with Willie Randolph on base. It's funny because all of the homers that Reggie hit were on the first pitch of the AB.

The last one has always been one of my favorite home runs ever. With the camera you can’t quite tell, the announcer originally can’t quite tell, and then you realize it’s one of the longest homers you’ve ever seen
