The Batting title should be called the Ted Williams award.

Shouldn't the batting title be called the Ted Williams award? Just like the pitching title is called the Cy Young award. Even if by some miracle or big change in how the game is played, someone hits .400 again, that doesn't make that future player as great as Ted Williams. The greatest hitter ever should hold that distinction. Just like Cy Young and pitching.

Careful what you wish for because in order to do this MLB would probably make it the Ted Williams MasterCard Batting Title Brought to You By Taco Bell and Presented by Bank of America. 😔
Edit: I can’t believe that in my derision of advertising’s choke hold on American culture that I actually gave these entities free endorsements. 💀

Can’t forget to add Draftkings in there somewhere

My wife and I were just in awe how quickly the MLB went from anything even close to gambling being verboten in a way almost nothing else is, to now having like 50% of the ads in the stadium and on TV during WS be for gambling sites

I was thinking the State Farm Bank of America Mountain Dew Toyota Geico Capital One Cheez-It Liberty Mutual TMobile VISA Allstate Kars4Kids Chase Progressive Tostitos Skyrizi award has a nice ring to it.

Hockey excels at this. Every single award is named after a guy. It’s awesome

Most if not all college football awards are named after a person too.
18. u/quinnbeast · 2026-10-31 17:40 UTC
Hell they used to have the divisions named after people.

The only issue is that for a non hockey fan, the names don’t mean anything so it’s hard to understand what the award is for them listening to any discussion. College football does the same for what it’s worth.

Yeah I think baseballs is fine. Batting title is obvious what it means. Cy Young isn't it you don't know him, but he has a unique name that makes you want to look into it. Ted Williams does not have that
